The Indian River County Main Library is located in sunny Vero Beach which lies along Florida's east coast. Our collection consists of over 270,000 items including: books, magazines, newspapers, microfilm, CDs, books on tape, DVDs, video tapes and more. We also provide access to the Internet and many PCs loaded with software dedicated to helping you in your research.

Virtual Reality Demos featuring the HTC Vive

Want to stand on top of a mountain, see a blue whale up close or be a ninja without ever leaving the library? This is your chance to experience something truly unique!

Brackett Library - Wednesday, October 12th
North IRC Library - Tuesday, November 8th
IRC Main Library - Thursday, December 1st
All Dates are 4:00pm - 7:30pm

3rd through 12th grade students ONLY are being given this special opportunity to register for a 20 minute session to experience the HTC Vive virtual reality system. We will allow you to choose from a list of beginner VR games and experiences such as Fruit Ninja , TheBlu, Tilt Brush, The Lab and more.

Pre-registration is required and you will be assigned a specific play-time. Please arrive at least 15 minutes prior to the scheduled time or your session will be forfeited. Spectators are welcome but pre-registration is REQUIRED to play.

3D Printing Class @ IRC MainLibrary
Thursday, October 20th: 6:00pm in the IRC Main Library Meeting Room


Want to learn more about 3D printing? See our 3D printing page here with more information.

Are you interested in learning the basics about 3D printing? Join us for a beginner class that will explain what 3D printing is, the process by which the models are created and prepared for the printer and how you can find models to print yourself. If you would like a preview of the type of things you can create please have a look at Thingiverse.com.

You will also get to see our Flashforge Creator Pro 3D Printer in action up close as we use it to create during the class.

This program is suitable for all ages. No registration is required.


Free Monthly Art Workshop @ IRC Main Library
1st Saturday of each month, 10:30am-12:30pm
(9/3 , 10/1 , 11/5 , 12/3)


Each month, 1st-5th graders will have fun with a different form of art; including clay and paint. Create your own masterpieces and learn about famous examples of each month’s medium.

Registration is required.

Teen Zombie Walk (and party) @ North IRC Library
Tuesday, October 25th, 6:00pm-7:30pm


Join us for Zombie-themed games, crafts, snacks and an invasion of the neighborhood. Prizes for most creative Zombies.

Some make-up will be available, but we encourage you to come dressed/made-up and ready to wreak havoc on the humans!

Gregg Phillips' More Kooky Than Spooky Halloween Magic Show!
October 26th, 6:30pm at Brackett Library


Fun for all ages! Non-scary family fun!

Everyone is invited to this hilarious and magical Halloween themed show with silly spookiness accompanied by eerie music (not really). It's more fun than fear! Gregg Phillips is a Library favorite who entertains both young and old.

Costumes are encouraged!


Basic Robot Building
November 3rd, 6:00pm to 7:00pm at IRC Main Library


Ever wanted to learn how build your own simple robot? This program, for fourth through eighth graders ONLY, will have students build their own Jitterbug Robots.

In the process, you’ll get to be creative as well as learn some very basic circuitry and robotics which will hopefully inspire you to learn more about the field.

Registration IS required as supplies are very limited for this FREE class.


Hometown Heroes
November 17th, 6:00pm to 7:30pm at IRC Main Library


Children and their families are invited to pay tribute to our local Veterans, Police and Emergency Service Workers.

A memorable and fun night is planned which includes instructional demonstrations, a scavenger hunt, an obstacle course and much more!

Registration is not required.
