The Indian River County Law Library is housed on the second floor of the IRC Main Library, where this reference collection is available to the public during all open hours. Fastcase and Gale Legal Forms databases may be accessed from any public internet computer in the library, with Gale Legal Forms database also being accessible from home with your library card number. Many of the most common legal forms used at the courthouse are available from the Reference Desk for 10 cents a page.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Q: Are the library employees attorneys?
A: No.

Q: Can the library employees give me legal advice?
A: No. In addition to possibly being construed as the unlicensed practice of law (see Fl. St. 454.23), giving legal advice could potentially put the library in a position of liability. The law can be complex and you should only seek advice from a qualified professional (e.g. an attorney). Advice that the library employees can give is limited to which reference materials might be helpful in your research.

Q: Can the library employees help me fill out a form?
A: No.

Q: Can the library employees explain a certain law to me?
A: No. Legal dictionaries and other references are available to help you understand unfamiliar language used in the statutes.

Q: Can the library refer me to a lawyer or firm that deals with the topic I’m researching?
A: No, but the local Bar Association can be helpful.
