News and Upcoming Special Events:

Library Time Capsule

April 2nd is the 500th anniversary of the landing of Ponce de León in 1513. Florida has the longest history in the United States. Help the Indian River County Main Library commemorate Viva Florida 500 with the Indian River County time capsule. It will be sealed October 14, 2013 at the Main Library.

Tell us what you think should be added to the container that will be opened June 2075. What would best represent life in Indian River County today? Be positive. Think about our wonderful culture and how much we enjoy life in our beautiful county. Submit ideas or suggestions in the form here.

The Children's Department is now accepting Lego donations for a summer program!

The Children's Department of the IRC Main Library plans to start a Lego Club for five to twelve year olds this summer. The goal of the program is to foster creativity and problem solving via the construction of Lego creations, as well as to encourage a positive association with the library for our younger patrons.

In order to make this program a success we are relying on the generosity of the community to donate new or used Lego blocks for use in the program. For more information contact Patti Fuchs at pfuchs@irclibrary.org or call 772-770-5060 ext 4132. Your help is appreciated!
