Commemoration Week on the Loss of the 1715 Fleet
July 27th - July 31st : Click for schedule

On July 31, 1715, twelve ships sailed off the east coast of Florida when suddenly a hurricane came upon them. The ships were tossed back and forth in the ocean, crashing on the rocks just off shore. Eleven of those ships sank from Fort Pierce to Cape Canaveral.

The Indian River County libraries proudly present the 300th Commemoration of the loss of the 1715 Fleet. Please check the link above for the list of activities that will take place starting July 27 and ending July 31st within the Library system.

Never-Ending Storybook Project @ Brackett Library

Due to popular demand we have added three new characters to our Never Ending Storybook. In addition to Gorilla Ice, Kaia, and Gidget, we now have Lily, McGrath, and Maxwell.

Elementary aged children can participate by checking out one of the six Character Bags. Each bag includes one stuffed character and profile along with a copy of the story and the materials needed to create your own page for the storybook.

Children are asked to continue the story in one or two paragraphs, take a photo or draw a picture of their character and return their addition to the book, as well as the rest of the packet to the Brackett Library within two weeks.

For more information contact Hollie McDougall at 772-226-3080.

Adopt-A-Shelf Program

Love the library? Help us out and Adopt –A- Shelf. Volunteers donate time to keep one shelf of the library neat and tidy. Pick up a brochure at Brackett Library or call 772-226-3080 for more information.
