The Gifford Library is located within the Gifford Youth Achievement Center in Vero Beach. The library provides books, Internet access and other resources to the students and community members in the area of the GYAC.

As you may have heard a Total Solar Eclipse will be visible in large parts of the US this August, as well as partially in our local area.

Fun with the Sun: All About the Solar Eclipse
Monday, August 21st: 10:30am at IRC Main Library AND the Fellsmere City Hall


Three to eight year olds and their families are invited to join us at either location for a fun and educational science program.

The programs will feature storytelling and hands-on experiments and crafts that will help our youngest patrons understand the hows and whys of the solar eclipse, that will occur later that day.

NASA @ My Library

These programs are sponsored by NASA@ My Library, a nationwide science and technology initiative. The Indian River County Library System is proud to be one of 75 public libraries chosen to be part of NASA@ My Library, led by the National Center for Interactive Learning(NCIL) at the Space Science Institute (SSI) in partnership with the American Library Association (ALA) Public Programs Office, the Pacific Science Center, Cornerstones of Science and the Education Development Center.

 

This program is made possible through the support of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) Science Mission Directorate via a cooperative agreement between NASA and SSI.NASA@ My Library is an initiative of the STAR Library Education Network (STAR_Net), a hands-on learning network for libraries and their communities across the country. As part of the grant, the library will receive materials, training and financial support to host programs and activities for various age groups. Our goal is to create compelling learning experiences for our community and share the story, science, and adventure of NASA’s scientific explorations of planet Earth, our Solar System, and the universe beyond.

Drive-in Theater at the North IRC Library
Tuesday, September 12th at 6:00pm


Join your friends at the Norht IRC Library as we turn the meeting room into a drive-in theater. Transform a cardboard box into a “car”. Watch movies sitting in your car just like at a drive in!

Ideal for ages 3 through 3rd grade.

Altered Book Night at IRC Main Library
September 21st at 6:00pm


Join us for a night of creativity!

We'll be turning old, unused books into journals and works of art. Materials will be provided. This program is for 1st through 8th graders.

Story Time @ the IG Center!
Every Thursday at 10:00am at the IRC Intergenerational Recreation Center (www.ircig.com)


Children ages 2 to 5 and their families/caregivers are invited to attend this free program. Each week will feature a different theme and include stories, songs, creative dramatics, crafts and more.
