On Your Mark, Get Set...READ!
Bookmark Contest



Between June 11th and July 15th pick up an entry form at any branch of the Indian River County Library System.

Top three winners will be chosen and prizes awarded in four different age categories; Kindergarten and 1st graders, 2nd and 3rd graders, 4th and 5th graders, and 6th through 8th graders. Bookmarks should be designed to illustrate this summer's theme of fitness and reading!


Shoot 4 Fun Photo Club


Wednesdays at 1:00pm at Brackett Library
Ages 8 to 12.

Do you:
  • Love to take pictures?
  • Wonder why they are blurry, dark and don't turn out as you planned them?
  • Want to learn how to take your creativity to another level?

  • Come join us at Shoot 4 Fun!

  • Learn to take photos in a manual mode
  • Learn to use your camera to work for you

  • Just bring your creativity, a camera, a notebook and yourself.

    Art Club


    North IRC Library

    Mondays 1:30pm to 2:30pm


    Brackett Library

    Tuesdays 2:30pm to 3:30pm


    With Art teacher, Miss Jennifer, 1st through 5th graders will create a different piece of art, using different media each week. Each session will focus on a different famous Artist and their methods, as it relates to that week's project.

    Registration IS required for this program.

     



    Puppet Club


    North IRC Library

    Tuesdays 11:00am to 12:00pm


    3rd through 6th graders are invited to join Ms. Patti weekly as they work to produce a puppet play that will be performed at the end of the summer. This will include making sets, costumes for the puppets, recording audio and more. We can NOT accommodate younger siblings in this program.

    Registration IS required for this program.

     



    Just Dance


    IRC Main Library

    Thursdays 1:30pm to 2:30pm



    Put on your dancing shoes and join Ms. Heather and Ms. Patti, as we use Just Dance on the Xbox to learn a few dance routines. We will practice them weekly and perform them (without the aid of the Xbox) at the end of the summer.

    This program is intended for 2nd through 6th graders. We can NOT accommodate younger siblings in this program.

    Registration IS required for this program.

     



    Let's Go to School!


    IRC Main Library

    Thursdays 6:00pm to 7:00pm


    Children entering kindergarten this August (ONLY) and their caregivers are invited to attend this weekly program designed to prepare their child for their first day.

    Topics will include the basics such as letters and numbers, but also important skills such as sharing, how to line up, raise our hands and other social/school skills. Childcare for older/younger siblings will be provided as siblings may NOT attend the program.

    Attendance will be rewarded with free school supplies AND raffle prizes!

    Registration is required. You can download the registration form here submit it to any of the IRC Libraries.

    Story Time

    Wednesdays 10:00am - Pre-school (3 to 5 years)


    Story Times at the branches of the IRC Library System feature storytelling, creative dramatics, fingerplays, rhymes, song, dance and a simple craft.

    Registration is not required.



    Summer Spanish Club @ Brackett Library

    3 to 5 year olds

     

    Kids can join Ms. Mariela as she teaches basic Spanish words and phrases. These will be multi-media classes involving videos, songs, rhymes, art and more. Registration is not required.

     

     

    Pre-School Club

    3 to 5 year olds

    Thursdays 10:00am - 11:00am


    Elementary School Club

    6 to 10 year olds

    Thursdays 11:00am - 12:00pm

     



    FLYP for Fitness


    North IRC Library

    Wednesdays 11:30am - 12:30pm


    Join us for challenging, but seriously fun workouts for 1st through 5th graders. Children must wear comfortable clothes and sneakers and bring a bottle of water.

    Don't use the heat of summer as an excuse to not keep your body moving!

    Registration is NOT required for this program.




    Get in the Game


    IRC Main Library

    Wednesdays 10:30am to 11:30am



    1st through 5th graders are invited to Get in the Game each week as we are visited by a different local sporting club. Children will enjoy presentations followed by an opportunity to try a new sport or activity.

    Groups scheduled to appear include; Vero Beach Karate Association, Christie's Fitness/Gymnastics, Vero Beach Weightlifting, and more.

    Registration is NOT required for this program.

     



    Lego Club


    IRC Main Library

    Mondays 10:00am to 11:00am



    Each week, Ms. Heather will challenge 1st through 5th grade Lego Enthusiasts to create new and innovative Lego designs and creations. Children will also be given an opportunity to play with and test their creations afterwards.

    Registration is NOT required for this program.

     



    Baby Sign Language


    IRC Main Library

    Mondays 10:00am to 11:00am


    The Sign Language classes are informal, fun and educational experiences for birth to two year olds and their families.

    The programs focus primarily on rhymes and songs and learning of common sign language words and phrases.

    Registration is not required for these programs.
