The George Keyes Collection
Over a period of several years, Sebastian resident George Keyes
gathered a huge archive of texts, news articles, and personal
accounts describing events from prehistory to the 1990s. He
photocopied them and bound them in three-ring notebooks, which he
donated to the Library. They form the core of the Library's
print resources on the history of this area.
Library Volunteer Judy Zuel and Staff member Daniel Clark have digitized
the archive. We've typed the documents as computer files,
arranged them chronologically, "marked up" the files as
web pages, and put them here on the website.
In most cases, we've placed the entries in the decade of the earliest
events they describe. Many of the entries go on to describe events of
later decades as well.
