Oral Histories

“Cracker Tales” is an oral history project whose mission is to collect the stories and experiences of the pioneers who settled Indian River County. These tales are told through the use of archival photographs and interviews, recorded on VHS and DVD.  Mini-documentaries and television documentaries of local history subjects are the Cracker Tales goals.

Cracker Tales

The WQCS Oral History Project records the lives and times of Treasure Coast residents.  Janie Gould interviews local residents, recording an unscripted forty-minute interview concerning what they have seen in their lives. These CD's are used in radio programs by WQCS-FM, and copies are given to the individuals being taped.   Many have been used in Janie’s Friday “Floridays” program and contribute to “Florida Frontiers” programming.  The Archive Center has thirty-four of these recordings.
